7 Heavenly Tips for Silky, Shiny Hair.

How to get silky, shiny hair.Spring is here. The birds are singing, the trees are blossoming and the weather is finally starting to cooperate. Spring is ready for you, but is your hair prepared for spring? If you’re still batting dry and brittle winter hair, here are some ways to rev up your roots and give your hair a super silky, shiny boost.

Home remedies for silky, shiny hair

Mix a quarter tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with two cups of filtered water. Shampoo your hair like normal, rinse and then pour the apple cider vinegar and water mixture onto your hair. Massage gently and leave in for about 20 minutes. Rinse out with cold water.

For extra shiny hair with a little extra bounce, squeeze a lemon on your scalp after you shampoo. Let it set for a few minutes and then rinse. It smells great too!

Egg shampoos are another way to strengthen, fortify and make your hair silky smooth. Combine one beaten egg, a teaspoon of olive oil, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of your favorite essential oil with a ½ cup of water. Use like a regular shampoo, massage into your scalp and rise thoroughly.

Infuse a healthy shine into your hair with coconut oil. Pour a generous amount into your hands and work right into your hair. Let the oil set for 5 minutes and then rinse with cool water.

Ditch the blow dryer and opt for a good breeze. Blow drying your hair is one of the most effective ways to dry it out, so don’t do it! When you let your hair air dry, you retain the natural oils and moisture that makes your hair silky, shiny and smooth.

Brush your hair. Pretty much a no-brainer, huh? You’d be surprised how many people aren’t aware of good hair brushing benefits. Brushing your hair distributes protective natural oils and closes the cuticle around each strand of hair, making it appear healthy, vibrant and full of shine. And this is without product!

Care for your hair from the inside. Vitamins A, C and E, along with the myriad of antioxidants you find in green tea, are great for your hair.

Dandruff - It’s Not a Winter Wonderland

Treating dandruff is sometimes like snowblowing.Dandruff is common, but that doesn’t mean you should be walking around with snow on your shoulders. But don’t panic. Dandruff is nothing more than skin being shed from your scalp. While a small amount of shedding is normal, if you find yourself covered in white powder all the time you can take some natural measures in treating it.

What causes dandruff?

When people have a higher, more frequent skin cell turnover rate, this can cause dandruff. As your skin cells continue their never-ending cycle of replacement, the old skin is pushed outward and eventually flakes off. Most of the time skin shedding isn’t noticeable. However, in people with dandruff, skin cells mature and replace themselves faster than normal which results in large, oily flakes of skin being sloughed off.

Another form of dandruff is cause by a fungus called Malassezia yeast. This fungus is found naturally on the skin, but when it’s fed fat (or oil from the sebaceous glands in your scalp) it can get out of control. The result is a lot of clumpy, itchy dandruff.

Other factors that can attribute to dandruff:
Use of shampoos with high alkaline content
Poor diet and nutrition
Overuse of styling products
